February 2015

"In case our memories fade throughout the years, we will always have this to remember our life together. This is our love story." - Brittney

2/7/15: Haircut...

So I have a special guy that does my hair, normally; but Zach decided to go watch a fight with friends today so I decided to stop by a little hair place in the mall to get a little cut. I mean, I have long hair...it's hard to mess it up.

I showed the sweet girl a picture of what I wanted...long side bang...

Unfortunately, she gave me bangs that started above my eyebrow...and Zach said I looked like this...

Luckily, my hair grows fast...so maybe my "side" bangs will be longer in about a month.

2/11/15: Lulu was officially spayed today. I've put it off and put if off, debating whether she is healthy enough to have the surgery, due to her age, frail body and her foul breathe. Her breathe smells like a dead animal; and while she doesn't have the best teeth, I was afraid there might be something internally wrong. She always acts like she feels fine so I wasn't overly worried yet but still hesitant. I actually prepared myself for a phone call telling me she didn't survive the surgery, LOL. Luckily, the phone call was a good one. Surgery was a success and no tumors!

2/12/15: Zach and Lulu greeting me home from work. I love their faces!

2/13/15: When Zach and I started dating 7 1/2 years ago, he started a Valentines tradition with me. He planned the events of the day and I gave him a gift. We documented the entire day with a disposable camera that we are not allowed to get developed until the next Valentines Day. Every year we switch who does the planning and who buys the gift.

Very romantic, I know. I love it.

Over the years, getting a disposable camera developed as proven to be a challenge, so Zach showed up with a Sim Card...I think that's what it's called... to use in our Hi-Def camera. I forgot to drop our disposable camera off to be developed, so I need to get that done soon, so we can remember our last years Valentines Day together. It's Zach's year to plan and my year to buy the gift. ...he snuck in a gift of his own this year too though that he gave me early. An Amore Jewel Candle! I've been burning it all day so I can dig out the ring tomorrow!

2/14/15: Valentines Day!

Due to our tradition, you won't see any photos of this event until next year.

This Valentines Day was not as pleasant as I had planned. My plan was to wake up, clean the house while Zach was at work and then spend the rest of the day doing what he had planned....cook out, wine and movie at home together with our pups.

Instead, I woke up with the most excruciating cramps of my life! I tried to clean the house but soon felt unable to walk around anymore. I didn't have any pain pills in the house because I rarely take medications, so I laid there on the couch rolling around, crying and screaming at times...YES, screaming. Zach called to check on me several times and told me that he would pick up pain meds on the way home. He showed up an hour later with a dozen roses, cheese-its, oatmeal pies, and four bottles of pain meds because he didn't know which I would need....so sweet. I took about 725 mg immediately and laid there pathetically hugging my roses and stuffing my face with Cheese-its, while watching The Carrie Diaries.

The only photo we have for 2015, until next year.

Zach gave me a kiss and laid down for a nap. An hour later the cramps still had not subsided...it became so unbearable that I crawled into a hot tub. At one point the pain so so unreal that I my entire body was shaking and I was banging on the wall with my feet, and begging for Zach to wake up and help me. I won't lie, at one point I seriously thought I was going to be the next featured story on "I Didn't Know I was Pregnant." LOL I pulled myself out of the tub, finally found the heating pad, took another 200 mg of pain meds and 30 minutes later, I was as good as gold.

Zach woke up and I laid on the sofa exhausted from the last four hours of hell. Zach decided to go visit his mother while I recovered, which was fine by me. I was not ready to be entertaining or entertained.

By the time he got home, I was ready for the evening. I didn't have much of an appetite, but the steaks were phenomenal and we were together. There's nothing more that I could have asked for.

2/15/15: Wyatt was adopted!!!

Wyatt was the 6th Harmon House rescue. He is a border collie/retriever mix and was such a sweetheart. He will be missed but we are so happy for his future with his new mom and dad.

Photo from his new mommy!
2/19/15: I decided that I would start grooming our own dogs, so we bought the grooming supplies and I went to town on Wickett. ...I failed miserably. The photo is very forgiving.

2/20/15: School Counseling Certification Exam! This is what the last 2 years have been for and I was oh so nervous. I felt ready but I am not typically a good test taker. I PASSED with flying colors! Now, I'm considering working toward my LPC...

I spent the entire afternoon taking photos of the dogs while waiting on a contractor that never showed up.... I hate dealing with contractors.

Zach and I spent the evening on the patio listening to classics and relaxing with our babies.

2/24/15 I finally caught sight of the squirrel who decided to make a nest out of my patio furniture... can't blame him though...it's been extra cold lately.

Running away from the crime scene

...squirrel

2/27/15: We have missed a lot of school lately, due to icy weather. Texans don't do ice.

Bill is the bird that lives in our front yard bush.

Lulu refusing to eat her treat inside.
Weirdo.

2/28/15: Zach happened to have a big private event, at the Arlington Convention Center, that had been scheduled for almost a year. I hated the idea of him driving 2 1/2 hours on icy roads but that man doesn't cancel on anyone! ...like a said, very hard worker. Luckily he made it safe and sound!

This girl got a little cold while he was away and we were all out of fire wood. So I improvised. Chainsaw and 2x4s. Classy.

January 2015

"In case our memories fade throughout the years, we will always have this to remember our life together. This is our love story." - Brittney

January was busy, as usual, and I have very few pictures to prove it. Since I am writing this in March, I have a hard time remembering any other specific events...even with the help of my calendar, LOL.

What I do know, though, is that 2015 has been good to us so far!

Zach decided that after 15 years of playing music live every weekend, he's ready to take a break. Zach is the hardest worker I know. He works full-time, Monday-Friday, then hits the road every weekend with his band. It's been a successful 15 years and he has made so many great memories and friends along the way, but he is ready for a breather. His plan is to focus more of his time on his life at home and spend more time in his studio, writing and recording, which is what he enjoys most.

1/10/15: His last show (for now...we'll see how long this lasts, LOL) was at The Firehouse, in Abilene, TX. Thanks to a dear fan, Kelly, I have at least one photo of the night!

1/13/15: I decided that I wanted to become an amateur wine connoisseur, and subscribed to ClubW. The sent me my 3 bottles, plus 2 more. The white was delicious and the others were disappointing. I ended my subscription.

1/15/15: We just couldn't help ourselves and visited the animal shelter once again. We thought that we would give our personal dogs a break from the rescuing until Summer. When we met Wyatt, we knew that this dog would easily find a home if only he a little more time...he was running out of time at the animal shelter. So we brought him home! ...and he is wonderful!

Wyatt getting acquainted with "The Little's." They adore him.

1/17/15: Little miss Lulu finally got her shots and heartworm testing. Zach had to take her and he reports that she screamed, squirmed and cried more than any dog we have owned. The good news is, she is healthy!

1/22/15: Our dear friends, Ryan and DeAnn, invited us to Ryan's birthday party at Taylor County Taphouse. We had such a great time. Every appetizer was ordered...and all were delicious! The chicken sandwich was awesome, and Zach said the burger was good, but that the sliders (during the appetizer) were better.

So blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives.

1/24/15: I applied to be a part of the Aspiring Administrator Academy, through our school district, and was selected. We had our first meeting today and learned a lot about curriculum development, which was very interesting.

1/25/15: Since the day Lulu arrived at our house in November, she has been my little sickly, sleepy dog. Now look at her. Her favorite thing to do is play chase with Wyatt every morning.

1/30/15: Wyatt was not so excited about his neutering appointment today, but the surgery was a success and he handled it like a champ!

1/30/15: In December, I decided to start the process to have my tattoo removed. There are just too many professional pencil skirts that are screaming for my attention. Today was my second treatment and I took Zach along to watch. He doesn't have any tattoos (nor does he like them) and I think he took a little pleasure in my pain. LOL
